The European Parliament is demanding that the European Commission and EU countries step up their efforts to help end female genital mutiliation. MEPs in Strasbourg today voted for a resolution calling on the Commission and member states to include FGM prevention measures in all policy areas to try to stamp out the practice of FGM. Today’s vote follows yesterday’s International Day of Zero tolerance for FGM. The Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan says much more needs to be done to stop it in Ireland.
