Grief, Resilience and Joy: How it all came together for me

On this episode of Sunset Stories I really enjoyed my time with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Pearce She is a bereaved mother, Certified Grief Educator and a bestselling author in eight yes eight categories on Amazon! She is a fascinating woman, and we are so grateful to be able to share her book The boy who became more than we could ever imagine and her son Dallin’s AMAZING story! Julia writes: Music enthralled Dallin’s life. It was ingrained in every fiber of his being. When he was merely weeks old, music was his way of connecting. As an infant, it calmed him when the music mobile above his bed was played after a busy day. When there was too much noise, and he was tired of being passed around like a little sack of potatoes, it soothed him in an instant. Music brought him joy and made him move to the rhythm. When music was playing in one part of the house, it would bring him from another with a huge smile, clapping hands, and little boy grooves. In the car, he would tap his toes and bop his head to the beat. In 2013 music changed for me, and it ended for Dallin. I could not listen to music again for years. It brought tears to my eyes, and they rolled down my cheeks. It took three years to hear music the way I did before with him and another year to play it aloud, celebrating the toe-tapping wonder of the boy who became more than we could have imagined. The next two years brought these memories back like notes flowing over a soul in need of free movement and dance. The rhythm of Dallin’s story danced in my head like a steady stream of lyrics that needed to be sung. At times, the titles of songs came as I was driving, and I needed to pull over to find a notepad to write it down immediately. On other days, the song would be there all day long. I would find myself humming the song or drumming my pen to the beat as I worked. Suddenly, I would realize that I needed to write down not only the title of the song but also the story that had come to me about the experiences that went with it.
