Mid-Session 9 May 18: Aussie market moves higher after budget release

The local sharemarket has continued to rise for 8 of the past 9 sessions with a generally positive reaction from last night’s federal budget. The ASX 200 is 18pts or 0.3% higher towards lunch with most sectors higher. The main drag has come from financials with CBA weighing after its 3Q trading update.
