Genesis 23:1-2 (ESV) 1 Sarah lived 127 years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. 2 And Sarah died at Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.
About this time of the year, many prayers are “declared” for protection and prosperity for the coming year. The fear of so-called untimely death & poverty strikes hard. The sojourner who showed his wife how to live now teaches us how to die, with eyes set on the celestial city. Though their riches increased, they did not set their hearts upon them rather, they clung to faith in the God who had shone in their hearts to give the light of the knowledge of His Glory in the face of His Son, Jesus Christ. Who or what are you clinging to?
