Seerah 22: Building a New Society in Madinah

The first task to which the Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) attended on his arrival in Madinah was the construction of a Mosque, in the very site where his camel knelt down. In Islam, the mosque is a noble institution used by Muslims to worship Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). The speaker provides us insight on the establishment of the first Masjid (Al-Masjid an-Nabawī) in Madinah for worship. He explains how worship does not mean salah (prayer) solely, but it covers the broader scope that encompasses all activities of Muslims which can form the value of taqwa. The Mosque being thus constructed, the Prophet Muhammad(saw) next turned his attention to cementing the ties of mutual brotherhood amongst the Muslims of Madinah, Al-Ansar (the Helpers) and Al-Muhajirun (the Emigrants).  The speaker explains in incredible detail on the code of brotherhood among believers known as the Charter of Islamic Alliance and how we as Muslims should take lessons from it for our understanding our relationships with Muslims around the globe. The speaker leaves us with a profound points to ponder that there is indeed a complementary individualistic aspect and a societal aspect of Islam that must be understand to truly live the complete way of life.   Lastly, the speaker points out the importance of the Madinah State and the desperate need today for its rival for the implementation of Islam.
