Gaywaves interview with Jillian Marcellus

The most comprehensive set of focus groups and polling data ever on transgender rights was commissioned by the Transgender Law Center and released in December in the form of a communications guide titled Transgender Youth and the Freedom to be Ourselves.

 

Today on Gaywaves our guest is Jillian Marcellus, director of narrative at ASO Communications and former communication director at the Transgender Law Center. ASO and Lake Research Partners are the other principle partners on the work.

 

This work introduces our community to the Race Class Gender narrative, which data shows to be the mose effective way to combat those seeking to attack transgender youth, especially, and transgender rights more generally.

 

The report is not a good news story. Rather it is a guide to the work that needs to be done and to the long journey on which LGBTQ activists and organizations need to focus.

 

Gaywaves is among the first LGBTQ news outlets to feature this work, and because of the gravity of it, we spend nearly an hour on it.
