Five Characteristics of a Playful Leader - Portia Tung | 1906

When we think of “play,” we think of chaotic children running through the streets creating imaginary scenarios and making up ridiculous rules. However, play is not a frivolous activity that us grown adults need to abandon. Instead, Portia Tung says play is essential to the development and enrichment of both children and adults’ lives.

As an executive Agile coach and play researcher, Tung has been dedicated to promoting happier adulthood through lifelong play and founded the School of Play. After her research of thousands of children and adults at play, Tung has uncovered five characteristics of a playful leader, whom she calls “playmakers”:
