Episode 253: Proverbs 4

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 4

Father God, I listen to your Word. I pay attention and gain understanding. Your teachings are sound, and I will not forsake them. Through your Word, I know how to live. I won't let it go in one ear and out the other.

I gladly trade the treasures of this world for wisdom and search for understanding at all costs. I won't forget one word, and if I do, Holy Spirit will bring it to my mind. I will not deviate an inch or walk away from wisdom. She guards my life. I love her and she keeps her eye on me. Above all and before all, I seek wisdom. And along with wisdom, I seek understanding. 

I wrap my arms around her and she exalts me. I embrace her and she brings me honor. She makes my life glorious, adorning it with a garland of grace and filling my days with beauty.

Following your Word, Father, adds years to my life. Your Word gives me clear directions to the way of wisdom. You have given me a road map to the path of righteousness.

You keep me from going down blind alleys and wasting time with wrong turns. My steps are not hampered and I do not stumble when I run. I hold tight to your instruction. I guard it well, for my very life is at stake. I steer clear of wickedness, not so much as setting a foot on that path. I give it a wide berth and continue along the paths of righteousness.

My path shines light the morning sun, ever brighter until the full light of day. My life is aglow with light. The longer I live, the brighter I shine, for Holy Spirit shines through me, lighting my way.

I listen to your Words. I tune my ears to your voice. I keep your message in plain view at all times. I meditate on it and inscribe it on my heart. Your Word is life to me -- real life, and health to my whole body. I'm bursting with life and health. 

I keep a vigilant watch over my heart because that's where life starts. Everything in my life flows from it. I watch my words. I say what I mean and I do what I say. I make my words count, because I know that words have power. So I avoid careless banter, white lies and gossip. I keep my eyes straight ahead, and ignore distractions. I give careful thought to the paths I take and where they will lead, and I am steadfast in all my ways. 

You make the road smooth before me. I don't turn to even look right or left, but stay focused on what lies ahead, on what you have prepared for me.

So be it.
