How Jess, Suz, and Cori Met | Our Love Story

We had a listener question and they asked how Jess and Suz became such good friends, so we thought it would be really fun to focus on that story in this episode. We’ve had bits of this story come up throughout our podcast, but never all in one like this one today. Jess tells her story about starting Alice Lane Interiors and how it came about, and then how Suzanne came into the picture after they fired their first interior designer who just wasn’t working out. We used to move a lot of furniture to people’s homes and set it all up for them to see how it looked and usually clients would love it and take the deal, but every now and then we’d have someone who just didn’t like it and would send it all back, which was a big pain for us, but it was all part of the learning process. “Find people that you honestly love to work with, so that it doesn’t feel like work.” “Passion is contagious.”

“We had so much fun and we would just be in our heels and our dresses just scooting furniture and seeing what worked best, thinking about the person’s personal things and drawing, sketching things out, and it really became a design laboratory. We would work the floor and help people from 10-7, and then the doors shut down and it was like Cinderella’s mice just scurrying about trying to put together this thing because they’re coming into the store the next day and we’re gonna show them what we’ve put together for them.” 7:28
