Episode 108: Psalm 37

Today's meditation is on Psalm 37

I never envy the wicked. I don't think even for a moment that they are better off than I am. I know that like the grass, they will fade away and disappear. I keep trusting in the Lord and do what's right in his eyes. I fix my heart on the promises of God, and I live safely and prosper, feasting on his faithfulness.

I delight in the Lord, and he gives me all of my heart's desires. I commit everything I do to the Lord -- holding nothing back. I trust him to direct my life, and he does it magnificently! He is my righteousness, as sure as the dawning of the new day. He is my justice, as sure and strong as the noonday sun. 

I rest in the Lord, quieting my heart in his presence and wait patiently for him to act. I'm not envious of the wicked may who seem to prosper.

I put the brakes on my anger. I turn off my wrath. I don't waste my time and energy on fret and worry -- it only makes things worse. For the wicked shall be destroyed, but I trust in the Lord and I inherit every promise and enjoy abundant peace.

The Lord laughs at those who plot against me, for he knows their judgment day is coming. All of their plots will backfire, and all of their weapons will be broken.

It is better to have little combined with much of God that to have the fabulous wealth of the wicked and nothing else. Their strength shall be broken, but the Lord takes care of me.

Day by day the Lord observes my good deeds and he gives me an eternal reward. He cares for me when times are hard; I always have more than enough, no matter what happens. I return what I owe with some extra besides. I can never out-give God. 

The Lord delights in how I live my life. He establishes my every step, and delights in each step I take. If I fall, I get up and brush myself off, for the Lord holds me with his hand.

I have been young and now I am older. And in all my years the Lord has never forsaken me, nor have I nor my household gone hungry. Instead, I am able to generously give to others. My children are blessed and are a blessing. They make me proud.

I forsake evil and do what's right in God's eyes. And I will dwell forever in his presence. The Lord loves it when he sees me walking in his justice. He will never abandon me. I will be kept safe forever in his faithful care.

I shall be firmly planted on good soil and put down healthy roots, dwelling in peace. I am a good counselor because I am just and fair and know right from wrong. God's Word flows like blood through my veins. 

God will foil any plot against me. I wait patiently and passionately for God. I just keep traveling steadily forward along his pathway and I know that in due season he will honor me with every blessing. I have a wonderful future ahead of me -- peaceful and prosperous, with a happy ending. 

The spacious, free life is from God. It's also protected and safe. Even in times of trouble, God lives in me as strength. He is my refuge. When I run to him, he saves me. I have faith in him, and he is my daily portion.
