Morning Report 4 Feb 22: Global sharemarkets tumble on disappointing tech earnings and central bank policy tightening

US sharemarkets were weaker on Thursday, dragged lower by technology stocks. In response to weak earnings guidance, shares in Facebook owner, Meta Platforms, fell by 26.4%. Shares in Amazon fell 7.8% ahead of its earnings results. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was down 518 points or 1.5%. The S&P 500 index lost 2.4%. And the Nasdaq index fell by 539 points or 3.7%.
