US Close 3 APRIL 17: US lower on the last day of trade for the Qtr.

US sharemarkets fell on Friday as investors booked profits at the end of the quarter. Investors now look ahead to first quarter earnings to determine whether valuations for shares are justified. First-quarter earnings for S&P 500 companies are expected to rise 10.1 percent, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. The Dow Jones index fell by 65 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.2% while the Nasdaq was up down by almost 3 points or less than 0.1%. Over the week the Dow Jones rose by 0.3%, the S&P 500 gained 0.8% and the Nasdaq rose by 1.4%. 1st Qtr 2017 moves on the US stock indices. Dow up 4.6% S&P up 5.5% NASDAQ up 10%
