Fr. Patrick Cahill discusses how we treat our friends differently to our family. At some stage of our lives, we may find that we have to work to keep our friends at times whereas our family will always be there regardless of what we do or say. If we move away or support a controversial issue for today’s society such as our faith, our friends may back off if they do not agree. But our family will always be our family. And so which category do we out God? We put God in the family bracket because we can tend at times to push him away as we know that He will always be there regardless. However, God knows us better than we know ourselves. And He is the One that we need to be desiring to be in the number one spot in our hearts and lives. God is not a fickle friend that we need to please. He loves us unconditionally.
