Weakness as witness

Resuming our worship series on practices of the church, Aaron Kauffman, the new president of Virginia Mennonite Missions used 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 as his text to speak of God’s mission. The young Corinthian church was at risk of dividing over conflicting loyalties to Paul and Apollos. Paul writes to point the church back to the cross on which Christ died. Aaron used Miroslav Wolf’s four part explanation of what happened on the cross to explain God’s open-armed embrace of all of humanity. Aaron suggested that we should approach mission from a position of weakness. Can we acknowledge our own neediness? Can we join with the global church and learn with each other at the foot of the cross?
