O’Reilly re-elected as European Ombudsman

The former Irish Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly has been re-elected as the European Ombudsman. Ms O’Reilly who was originally elected to the position last year was re-elected by a substantial majority of MEPs today in the European Parliament. She had to go up for re-election as the new Parliament has begun a new 5-year term. The European Ombudsman investigates complaints about maladministration in the EU institutions and EU bodies. Ms Emily O’Reilly was unopposed in today’s vote.
