The Problem of Evil

Philosopher David Hume pressed the question, "Is he [God] willing to prevent evil, but not able? then he is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? then is he malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil?" In this episode, Pastors Brandon and Zac open Scripture to discuss why evil exists and how God remains both "the overflowing source of all good" (Belgic Confession, Article 1) and so sovereign that "all things, in fact, come to us not by chance but by his fatherly hand" (Heidelberg Catechism, Q.27). The episode concludes with practical and pastoral advice on how to respond to suffering and persecution.
