AM Report 19 Sep 18: US stocks lift despite trade tariffs

The US sharemarket bounced back strongly as investors had their first opportunity to react to escalating US-China trade tensions. While the US has applied further tariffs on US$200bn of Chinese imports and China retaliated, the tax rates were lower than some had feared.
