Morning Report 8 Mar 22: US sharemarkets were again lower on Monday

The US mulled a ban on Russian oil imports. Technology, financials, communication services and consumer discretionary led the declines. Shares in global companies fell sharply with American Express down by 8.0% and McDonalds down 4.9%. But energy rose 1.5% and defence stocks led the gains. Shares in Lockheed Martin rose by 1.8%. At the close, the Dow Jones index was down by 797 points or 2.4%. The S&P 500 index fell by 3.0% and the Nasdaq was lower by 482 points or 3.6%.
