The The military health system statistical data states that between 2020 and 2nd quarter of 2023, the U.S. military saw approximately 486,000 cases of traumatic brain injury of which 82.2% experienced a mild traumatic brain injury (concussion), 11.3% experienced a mild TBI, 1% experienced a severe TBI, while 1.2% experienced a penetrating TBI.
