Carbon capture could be a new revenue stream for Irish farmers – that’s according to MEP, Colm Markey. The European Parliament has just backed the new Common Agricultural Policy. One of the schemes included in the new CAP is so-called Carbon Farming. Farmers will have a cash incentive to help cut carbon emissions by planting trees, protecting peatlands and enriching soil. Fine Gael MEP, Colm Markey, thinks it could be a real opportunity for farmers in the Midlands North West.
