On this first part of a two part episode of The Weekend Take, we sit down with Mike Zupan of Byte-Size Impressions and Byte-Size Cinema ( www.bytesizeimpressions.wordpress.com ) and Writer, Director, Producer, Entertainment Attorney, and Columnist for Script Magazine, Christopher Schiller (https://scriptmag.com/author/chrisschiller) to discuss our recent "Bestest Picture" Tournament that was held across our social media platforms over the last 6 weeks or so.
In this tournament, we pitted the last 32 Academy Award Winners for Best Picture against one another to see who the people thought was the "Bestest Picture". The seedings were decided chronologically, with the Number 1 seed being the most recent Best Picture Winner (Prior to Parasite winning in 2020), The Green Book, and the Number 32 Seed being the oldest of our field of winner, The Last Emperor.
Join us as we recap and discuss the match ups, upsets, and more of the first round as we work our way to the Finals to crown "The Bestest Picture" (with a stunning confession from one of the members or our panel at the conclusion of the tournament). We will also discuss an interesting statistic about how an entire DECADE of contenders was shut out of the second round and what that may mean for that decade in cinema.
All this and more on this episode of The Weekend Take! Look for Part Two of this two-part episode to be released next week.
