Bill Strickland has enjoyed many careers, from botany to performing as a dancer/singer/actor, to becoming a lawyer working in the banking and philanthropic sectors. He shared two stories with a common thread about how something that was once an irritant became a gem, a pearl. The inquiry was to reflect on what irritants we may have, and what gem do they bring to us? How does empathy shift our perceptions?
