#174 The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Renfield, Upstream Color

This week, we dip into two theatrical releases. The first is The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which proves to be a vanilla-safe children’s movie with little interests to adults. On quite the opposite spectrum, Renfield’s splatter gore-fest is geared solely for adults. Though Nicholas Cage’s Dracula is very entertaining, the film itself lacked imagination and better humor. Lastly, 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Upstream Color. This indie film broke the limits of visual storytelling while breaking the laws of nature in this quiet thriller. This episode’s first two reviews contains no spoilers.
