This Dutch filmmaker has tackled so many blockbusters both in his homeland and here in the United States but what was it that made audiences respond to his films (regardless if they got the full picture regarding some of the amusing satire he snuck into his films)? Corey Stevenson from the Podcasting After Dark podcast joins me in ranking his 10 best films and overall resume with him ranking some of his best American films (Total Recall, Hollow Man, Basic Instinct, Robocop & Starship Troopers) and me ranking his best Dutch language films (The 4th Man, Flesh + Blood, Soldier of Orange, Turkish Delight, Spetters, Black Book). 

 

How much of his dystopian scifi future universes appear to be coming to life in some form of our actual reality nowadays? How well does he handle using popular actors like Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, The Hitcher) and Jeroen Krabbe (The Living Daylights, The Fugitive) in his Dutch productions?? Are we that politically correct a society to where no one can concentrate on some of his gimmicks and premises just because they're not used to how he incorporates his gritty, violent and sexual elements into each film he does???
