The phrase "in Christ" indicates we are vitally in and part of the historical events that took place in Jesus by the Holy Spirit. We have actually been joined and made one with Christ, so that his history is our history. We are one with him in all that he has accomplished and all that he is now in the heavens. The christian life is the continual act of remaining in him, dwelling in him, being aware of him as our life and perservering in this relationship. It is choosing to be present to him who is committed to always be present with us.
