#247 You Ask, We Answer - 41

On the last Wednesday of every month, Christy & Michelle answer listener questions live on the show - YAWA! This month we're answering questions about: Sending thank you notes early. Floor Plans & flow of events. Starting over with wedding plans cause things are getting too complicated. Saying no to parents about an after-party. FMIL wants a separate wedding weekend party just for her side of the family. How much to tip a wedding planner and more!

Question #1: Thank you notes & Event Flow

1. We have already received wedding gifts from a few eager friends and family members. Our wedding is in late June. Should we send out our "thank you" notes now, or wait until after the wedding? It seems like a long time between now and June to not thank them for the gift.
2. We are struggling with our wedding floor plan/flow of events. Do you think three separate spaces is too much? Should we combine the cocktail hour and dinner/reception to be in the same space even though it will be kind of akward, or add a third location?

Question #2:

Though the wedding is not for another year, budgets are a bit more of a concern than pre- covid. They had a wedding planned a bit out of town, with shuttles, a live band, etc, but wonder if they should just cancel those plans and move the ceremony into town.

Question #3: Her fiance's parents want to have an after party and she does not want that.

They are having a brunch wedding. The fiancé’s dad wants to have a party after the brunch, and the couple does not feel totally comfortable with that. She is wondering how to communicate this, and help him see their point of view. They do want to have a bigger party, reception in another year when hopefully the pandemic is ove, it feels safer, and they can gather without masks.
