Message Summary It is not with perishable things like silver are gold that your life is redeemed by God, as the Apostle Peter tells us in 1 Peter 1:3b-6a: “. . . he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice . . .". Your sinful life is redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus' sacrifice -- a Lamb without blemish or defect. Jesus fulfilled God's new covenant, which like God’s first covenant with Abraham that called for the blood sacrifice of a perfect sacrificial Lamb, with us through Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Jesus, as described by Paul, in 1 Corinthians 11:24-26, Jesus’ institution of the Passover meal for us in the sacrament of Holy Communion through which we remember Jesus’ substituting His death for all our sins as Jesus’ sacrificed His life for our lives -- our perfect sacrificial lamb, the Pascal Lamb: “and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, ‘This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.".
Today’s Affirmation: Today, Because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Heartlessness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Kindness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).
