The future EU funding of important regional and social schemes could be in jeopardy when the new EU budget kicks in. That’s according to the Independent MEP Marian Harkin. She was speaking in the European Parliament which this week set out its position on the post-2020 EU budget. MEPs have prioritised certain areas such as research programmes, support to young people and small firms. They’re also having to deal with any funding shortfall caused by Brexit. Marian Harkin says many vital programmes that help people in need in Ireland could lose out.
