Mid-Session 25 Jan 22: Market slumps as inflation lifts more than expected

The Australian sharemarket has hit a fresh eight-month low, is falling for a third day and remains on track to have the worst January in years. Key inflation numbers this morning were hotter than expected, adding to potential rate hike expectations in 2022.
