The Tragedy at Southern University & my Experience Pledging Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity

I have been a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., for 28 years, and recently saw the tragedy at Southern University. My prayers go out to this young man's family. What happened to him should NEVER have happened.

But there are comments from people who have no knowledge of these organizations other than tragic situations that have happened and refer to fraternities and sororities as buying friends or call it lame or other derogatory terms.

But those same people who refer to members as "lames," while supporting so many of those "lames" through music, media, sports, fashion, etc. These people also ignore that hazing goes on in school, bands, sports, military and everyday life. Leave your thoughts.

Again, my prayers go out to his young man's family. It's a tragedy we can't have happen again.
