Have a plan

On the topic of parenting, one of the questions I get a lot is how to get a child to stop behaving badly when the child throws a fit to get their way.

The answer, have a plan!  

You know the child is going to throw a fit when you say no.

Stop being afraid of the fit and prepare for it instead. 

If they throw things, make sure you have unbreakable around, then put everything that can be broken away for a while until they show they can hear the word no without throwing things. 

Whatever you plan to do when they behave badly. Do it.

Just plan in advance for it so that they can throw the fit without hurting themselves or others.

There is no magic way to stop this sort of behavior.

They just have to throw their fit until they learn it doesn’t work anymore. 

So make a plan to protect them, yourself and your belongings from harm and ride this out.
