Morning Report 13 Dec 21: US sharemarkets advanced on Friday

In-line inflation data spurred bets the US Federal Reserve won't have to accelerate plans to tighten monetary policy. Shares of software company Oracle jumped 15.6% on upbeat quarterly results. And chipmaker Broadcom's shares gained 8.3% following the  announcement of a US$10 billion share buyback plan. The Dow Jones index rose by 216 points or 0.6%. And the S&P 500 index lifted by 1% to an all-time closing high with the Nasdaq index up by 113 points or 0.7%. For the week, the Dow jumped 4%, the most since March. And the S&P 500 lifted 3.8% with the Nasdaq up 3.6% -both lifting by the most since February.
