She is the creator of a compelling and funny one-woman show about discovering her autoimmune disorder, dealing with it, and getting back to being a “badass international explorer” even with an autoimmune condition. Our guest Maria Fadiman is an associate professor in the Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University and a National Geographic Emerging Explorer. She researches the human/environmental aspect of conservation, focusing on ethnobotany, the study of the relationship between people and plants, and has given two TEDx talks. In addition to her academic publications, she writes adventure essays and is one of the invited contributors to the book, Global Chorus, along with others such as the Dalai Lama and Jane Goodall.
