In 1811 America's largest slave rebellion occurred in the new territory of Louisiana. Skillfully timed and ultra-violent, the rebellion was fueled by the dream of a free republic for freed slaves. With the Haitian Revolution in mind, nearly five hundred enslaved men marched for freedom leaving many dead plantation owners in their wake.
