Morning Report 27 Apr 21: US sharemarkets were mixed on Monday

Key earnings reports are set to be delivered this week. Investors also await the Federal Reserve rates decision and data on economic growth. Shares in Tesla rose by 1.2% ahead of results expected after the bell on Monday. Of 124 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported so far, 85.5% have topped analysts' earnings estimates, with Refinitiv IBES data now predicting a 34.3% jump in profit growth. The Dow Jones index fell by 62 points or 0.2%. But the S&P 500 index gained 0.2% to record highs. And the Nasdaq index added 122 points or 0.9% to record highs.
