Morning Report 25 May 21: US sharemarkets were higher on Monday

Technology led the way. Inflation concerns are easing (and bond yields have fallen) on expectations that President Joe Biden may need to settle for Congress agreeing to a smaller infrastructure package. On Friday the White House pared down the President's US$2.25 trillion infrastructure proposal to US$1.7 trillion. The Dow Jones index rose by 186 points or 0.5%. The S&P 500 index rose by 1.0%. And the Nasdaq index gained 190 points or 1.4%.
