Isaiah 40:1-11: Longing for Comfort (O Come Emmanuel)

Welcome to the 2nd sermon in our series on longing for the Messiah. (2 of 3)

Advent is basically a participation in the anticipation in the coming of Jesus. We do this together as a church throughout history and around the world, and every year we sing “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” What do we long for when we sing this song? In this sermon series, we are going to be looking at some passages in Isaiah. Isaiah gives us a tremendous amount of insight into the prophecies about the coming of this Messiah, the king that we wait for. We are going to look at different elements of what this Messiah will usher in when he comes, what we are longing for and waiting for.
