NCF-108 The Convergence of IoT with AI

Today’s guest is Dr. Shawn Murray, CEO/President of Murray Security Services. Dr. Murray takes us back to his humble beginnings and through his fascinating journey up to present day. He also shares with us what keeps him up at night, IoT and AI. IoT devices such as the Echo that are Alexa enabled bring with them many questions, such as what do they connect to and where is our data stored? Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant type devices are always listening and their AI algorithms are designed to learn. In 2018, Colorado passed and enacted one of the strongest pieces of national legislation for privacy and cyber security, Protections For Consumer Data Privacy. One of the big wins with this legislature is that Colorado companies now have to give the option to consumers to opt out of information gathering and businesses cannot deny services if this opt out is chosen. Dr. Murray discusses the need to have national privacy laws so that companies don’t have to try to follow 50 different ones.
