Called and chosen for ministry / 1 Timothy Bible Study (Part 7)

We are called and chosen by God. Jesus said, 'You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain.' Being in ministry is a vocation, by the will of God, in keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 1).

Throughout chapter 5&6 of 1 Timothy, Paul is very concerned to instruct his young disciple how to deal with false teaching and corruption - especially financial corruption - in the church in Ephesus. Paul was the founder of this great church, but now, years later, there are problems. We have to be extremely careful who is chosen for ministry. Paul says, v22, “Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands.” He’s not talking about praying for the sick, but the laying on of hands to confirm God’s call to the ministry.
