Kelly calls for ban of Brazilian beef imports – European Parliament

Beef imports from Brazil should be banned with immediate effect. That’s the call from the Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly. He was responding to recent revelations of serious fraud and corruption in the Brazilian beef trade. A two-year investigation by the Brazilian Federal Police showed that potentially dangerous meat products were placed in the food chain. Last night MEPs debated the Brazilian beef scandal in the European Parliament. They demanded to know why EU border checks failed to detect tainted beef coming into the EU from Brazil.
