Market Close 11 Mar 19: Local shares retreat as mining and energy names weigh on the ASX 200

The ASX 200 index finished the day down 23 points or 0.4% to 6180 having attempted to stage several mini recoveries throughout the day. Among the top 200 stocks, losers more than doubled winners with nearly every single sector in negative territory. The energy sector led losses with falls of up to 2.5% for most oil & gas producers. Oil Search (OSH) and Santos (STO) both fell 2% while Beach Energy (BPT) declined 2.4%.
