2019-05-09
Episode 330: Ray Harryhausen's (select) Filmography (Part One) Join Matt & Tim as they spend the month of May exploring select films from Ray Harryhausen's filmography. Part One of the series will find the boys watching and then discussing Ray Harryhausen's first studio motion picture, "Mighty Joe Young" (1949), in which he remains uncredited for his work as a stop-motion animation technician, working under original "King Kong" (1933) animator Willis O'Brien. "It Came from Beneath the Sea" (1955) marks Harryhausen's first credited major motion picture, taking on the stop-motion effects after hearing a pitch from Columbia Pictures Producer Charles H. Schneer, who would collaborate with Harryhausen on many more classic stop-motion films.
