AM Report 19 Apr 18: Mixed close as IBM sinks and trade concerns hit beige book

US sharemarkets were mixed as investors mulled the Beige Book report and corporate earnings results. Shares in IBM fell by 7.5% after after concerns over future growth. But energy and transports drove the broader market higher. Shares in United Airlines rose 4.8% in response to higher earnings. The Dow Jones index fell by almost 39 points or 0.2%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.1%, while the Nasdaq rose by 14 points or 0.2%.
