Market Close 2 September 19: Shares kick-off the new week & month in the red

It has been a soft start to the new week and month for the Australian sharemarket. The ASX 200 ended the day down 25 points or 0.4% to 6579 with widespread losses. Only the materials sector ended the day higher back by gains for the heavyweight miners BHP and Rio Tinto.
