Will Russia benefit from new resolution on Syria

How Russia benefitted by getting the ceasefire resolution passed by the UNSC on 31 December 2016?In response to this question posed by BBC Urdu service on 1 January 2017, I explained: Russia will try to take advantage of Turkey and also benefit from the policy vacuum witnessed in the US foreign policy  until new administration takes charge in late January 2017.
