The overarching principle for the requirements of an elder is that he must be a man who is above reproach. The many other things that Paul has to tell Titus about elders service all flow from that governing principle. Pastor Nick preaches Titus 1:6-7, noting that this is more than a requirement for those who are called to lead the church, but is the aim of all who desire to honor Christ.
