Targeted ads could become a thing of the past after MEPs backed calls for tighter online regulations.
Their stance will feed into the Digital Services Act, which is due to be unveiled by the European Commission before Christmas.
MEPs want to provide users with more control over what they see online and to make them less dependent on algorithms.
