The Venerable Sister Mary of Jesus of Ágreda: describes how Our Savior Jesus went to the banks of the Jordan River, where he was baptized by St. John, and when St. John asked Jesus to baptize him. The Blessed Virgin Mary reminds us that we need to be constant in our thankfulness for the gift of baptism saying, "You are poor in the house of the Lord, a sinner, insignificant and useless as dust; yet I ask you to assume the duty of rendering ceaseless thanks for all that the incarnate Word has done for the sons of Adam and for establishing the holy and immaculate, the powerful and perfect law for their salvation."
