One of the worst thing we can do as human beings is to give the keys to our happiness to another person for all of the obvious reasons. Many of us make the mistake in thinking that this is how love is expressed, but nothing could be further from the truth. 

True love is a feeling that through the commitment of a relationship you feel free and not like a slave by feeling or thinking that if you were to love yourself and take care of you that this would somehow mess up the relationship. Someone who loves you would encourage you not to sacrifice yourself because there is no need for it.

Love is patient

Love is kind

Love does not envy

Love does not boast

Love is not proud

Love does not dishonor others

Love is not self seeking

Love is not easily angered

Love keeps no record of wrong

Love does not delight in evil

Love rejoices with the truth

Love always protects

Always trust,

always hopes

Always preserves.
