Most social workers chose their profession out of a sincere desire to help others, especially children. Georgia Tann perceived children of indigent parents as a commodity to capitalize on, and she did, becoming a millionaire in the process. Unfortunately, the children in her care didn't fare quite as well, suffering from abuse, illness, and, in some cases, even death. Georgia Tann was a sociopath with no respect for human life from which she could not turn a profit.
